Waiting
I feel certain if I could understand dog and cat speak, I would hear all of the animals now in residence at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter ask, 'do you think we'll be waiting long?'

Their faces and body-language speak volumes about how much they want someone to take them home.

There was not an animal I saw at LCAS yesterday that I did not want to scoop up and offer a ride to my house. Ah, ... there's the rub.

With six of my own it would be unfair to adopt another into my already established household of pets, most of them senior citizens and very set in their ways. I also live alone and am a bit long-in-the-tooth myself.

Many folks I've meet say it's too hard for them to go to the shelter and see all those longing faces looking out from behind bars, waiting as each person files by, hoping that this is the one who will offer them forever love.

No, one can't take them all home, but do visit and talk to each one. Walk the dogs, talk to the dogs. Talk to the cats. Talk to the wonderful staff about all the animals there.

It's the perfect way to feel wanted and to make each of the animals feel wanted and worthy as well.
