Patricia M. Simmons, 82, of Friendship, died Oct. 1 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport after a battle with a brief illness.

Pat was born Dec. 19, 1930 in Rockland to Maurice and Ida Harper Haskell. She graduated from Thomaston High School in the class of 1949.

She worked numerous jobs throughout her life including the Waldoboro Button Factory, G.T.E. Sylvania, packing sardines, picking crabs, shucking clams, picking shrimp and occasionally worked as a sternman on her husband's lobster boat.

In 1957 she married the love of her life, Alan B. Simmons of Friendship. They had 56 wonderful years together, dancing and snowmobiling in their younger years and camping together at Lake Pemaquid Campground in their golden years. Pat enjoyed doing folk art painting, collecting beanie babies, and drawing and painting with her grandchildren when they were little.

She was well-known and loved by many friends from surrounding towns and all the way down to Charleston, S.C. Her most precious time was spending time with her grandchildren.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Ida Haskell; and brother, Stephen Haskell.

She is survived by her husband, Alan B. Simmons of Friendship; daughters, Sheila Ackley of Warren, and Angela Powell and companion Barry Knott of Damariscotta; brother, Robert Haskell of Cushing; grandchildren, Gregory Powell of Friendship, Rebecca Flaherty and husband Travis, Samantha Ackley, and Stephen Ackley, all of Warren; and many nieces and nephews who were near and dear to her heart.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 4-6 p.m., Fri., Oct. 4 followed by a service to celebrate Pat's life at 6 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Rev. Tom Rawley will officiate. Burial will be in the Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
