A Waldoboro man faces charges of aggravated assault and other crimes after allegedly beating his father with a shotgun until the shotgun broke March 30.

Robert L. Lacombe Jr., 29, faces a charge of aggravated assault and two counts of criminal threatening, all felonies; as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault and violation of condition of release.

Waldoboro Police Officer Thomas Bartunek responded to Lacombe's residence for a medical call in the early afternoon of March 30 regarding a male subject who supposedly fell off a porch and injured his head, according to an affidavit by Bartunek.

Robert L. Lacombe Sr. was bleeding from his head and elbow when Bartunek arrived.

"Robert Sr. said he was arguing with Robert Jr., then Robert Jr. attacked, beating him with a shotgun," Bartunek said in the statement. "Robert Jr. broke the shotgun while hitting Robert Sr."

"I found the shotgun, which appeared to have blood on it," Bartunek said. "Robert Sr. had injuries to his head, elbow [and] forearm and was complaining about pain to his side."

Lacombe Jr. was arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where he remains pending $10,000 cash bail or $2500 with a supervised bail contract.

A grand jury indicted Lacombe Jr. May 15. He allegedly threatened another man with the gun and assaulted a woman the same day, according to the indictment.

As of May 23, Lacombe Jr. remains incarcerated at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Lacombe Jr.'s attorney, Jeremy Pratt of Camden, was unavailable for comment.

(A previous version of this article incorrectly said Robert Lacombe Jr. was free on supervised bail. The Lincoln County News apologizes for the error.)
