The Damariscotta Police Department has identified a man who allegedly stole a $150 pair of Chippewa boots from Renys Underground.

The department distributed an image of the man from a surveillance camera to The Lincoln County News shortly before noon today. The newspaper posted a brief article with the image to its website and Facebook, and Facebook users shared the post.

The department identified the man this afternoon, according to a post on its Facebook.

"And just like that!" the post said. "The male and his companions have been identified! Thank you!"

More information was not immediately available.

The man allegedly stole the boots at about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
