An 18-year-old Jefferson woman was not hurt when the car she was driving hit a utility pole and rolled over in Jefferson Friday, May 9.

Ashleigh M. Teele was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 northbound in the vicinity of 437 Bunker Hill Road at about 4:30 p.m., Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Brian Collamore said.

Teele "got into the northbound shoulder" and apparently over-corrected, which caused the vehicle to slide sideways, Collamore said.

The vehicle crossed the southbound lane, hit a Central Maine Power Company pole, and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof with live wires on and around it.

Teele remained in the car for some time while emergency personnel waited for CMP to arrive. "CMP shut down the power to get her out safely," Collamore said. Hillside Collision Center removed the truck, which was totaled.

Teele was wearing a seat belt and the truck's airbags deployed, Collamore said.

Emergency crews closed the road for about 1 1/2 hours.

The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, the Jefferson Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident.
