RSU 12 Awarded Multimillion-Dollar Preschool Expansion Grant
RSU 12 was one of 13 school districts in Maine awarded a multimillion-dollar Department of Education preschool expansion grant on Dec. 10. A total of $14.8 million in federal funds will go to Maine schools to increase access to preschool education - approximately $3.2 million will go to RSU 12.

Deputies Attend Wreaths Across America Ceremony In D.C.
For the first time in the history of Wreaths Across America, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was represented. Deputy Kevin Dennison and Detective Scott Hayden traveled to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia Saturday, Dec. 13 to honor those who have fallen in service to their country.

Kindergarteners and pre-K students from Miller School in Waldoboro gave a holiday performance Dec. 15 for the residents of Waldoboro Green, a small residential care facility located near the school.

Lincoln County Celebrates Chester Fossett's 44 Years of Service
Municipal officers and court officials gathered at the Lincoln County Courthouse to celebrate Chester Fossett's 44 years of service to Lincoln County on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Fossett has served as the Register of Probate since 1987, overseeing the operations of the Probate Court.

He leaves his post in January 2015.

Round Pond's Washington School Raises Belfry
After seven years and $40,000 raised by donations and fundraisers, the 1885 Washington School's belfry was raised and attached to the building in Round Pond Tuesday, Dec. 16.

Warren Man Indicted For Alleged Strangling in Bremen
A Warren man was indicted for aggravated assault by a Lincoln County grand jury Dec. 3 after allegedly strangling a woman and otherwise assaulting her in a car in Bremen Aug. 8.

A Waldoboro man was killed the evening of Dec. 12 after police say he failed to stop at a stop sign in Warren and his car was struck by another vehicle.

Last week Lincoln Academy installed a new water bubbler in the main hallway, thanks to the efforts of the school's Climate Action Club, which raised about $1400 to replace the old water fountain.

Edgecomb Man Arrested For Alleged Child Abuse
An Edgecomb man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly striking a 20-month-old toddler in the face and breaking the child's arm, according to a Dec. 12 Lincoln County Sheriff's Office press release.
