Hinkley Heads Up Panther Tennis Program

William Hinkley has been hired as the new boys tennis coach at Medomak Valley. Hinkley played three years of tennis at Brunswick High School. He got his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and masters degree at the University of Illinois.

He has coached tennis at two private schools, including varsity boys at Gould Academy in Bethel from 1996-1998, and JV boys at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts from 1998-2002.

Hinkley teaches math at Medomak Valley, coaches the math team and has just started a new outdoor club at the school.

"It has been a while since I last coached and I have really missed it. I enjoy working with students in a variety of different settings, since students are able to show different strengths in different settings.

"For instance, I might teach a student in my math class who really struggles with the material and lacks confidence. That same student may really shine on the tennis court and be a natural leader. Coaching is a great way to see a new side of a kid," Hinkley said.

"We have a strong returning group of players, plus several new players with some good tennis experience. I think we have a strong chance to be competitive and earn a playoff berth this year," Hinkley said.

Returning players from last year's squad include Noah Beck, Aaron Smeltzer, Ezra Hinkley, and Gabe Cooley. New to team this year are Richard Kinney, Cyril Miller, Jacob Siegel, Greg Wadsworth and Devan Hooper.
