Lincoln Academy's 4x800 relay team shaved nine seconds off the school record in their second place finish at the State Class B track and field championships, held at Brewer High School June 7. The Eagles finished in 8:25.41, behind State champions Ellsworth.

Running a leg on the record breaking relay were Nick Smelcer, Seward Matel, Julian Frink, and Alex Organ.

Lincoln's 4x800 relay team qualified and will compete at the New England championships on June 14 at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass.

Waterville won the State B title. Lincoln placed 16th with 11 points. The top seven places collected team points at the championship meet.
