Loughridge Returns To Archipelago In August
"Storm over Red Barren," soft pastel on panel by Sally Loughridge.

New oil and soft pastel paintings by South Bristol artist Sally Loughridge will hang throughout August at Archipelago in Rockland.

Her artwork reflects her continual fascination and visual conversation with the natural elements of Maine's MidCoast. "I love unusual perspectives, transitory light patterns, and the seasonal hues of Maine," she said.

"Painting helps me connect with nature, to see it more clearly and appreciate it more deeply." She hopes her work will stir the viewer's curiosity, memory and emotions.

Loughridge has exhibited in Archipelago for twelve years. In 2008 she had a solo show, Coastal Edges, in the Archipelago Fine Arts Gallery.

In 2010 she returned to the gallery as part of Monhegan Perspectives III, a show by a small group of Monhegan lovers and painters. She teaches soft pastel painting privately, as well as creates original jewelry designs based on nature's palette.

Archipelago is home to unique handmade art, craft and design representing the very best of Maine's islands and coast.
