Phillip 'Rusty' McGuire Benefit Bingo

The Charles F. Lilly Post 149 American Legion Hall in Waldoboro will be the host for a benefit bingo on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m.

The bingo will help the family of Rusty McGuire pay for his final expenses. Rusty passed away very unexpectedly on June 28.

As a young man he played guitar with his father and brother, Al "Walbash" McGuire and was known as "Uncle Mac and His Westerners."

They played on the Augusta radio station and at many area dance halls around Maine. He also played drums for the country group, "The Amigos," from Boothbay and they played dances all over Maine.

Rusty worked various jobs in sawmills and worked for Richard R. Storer for 30 years until he retired.

McGuire loved music, playing bingo, hunting and fishing.

They are asking various businesses and friends for donations of gift certificates or merchandise that can be used as prizes at this benefit. All generous contributions would be greatly appreciated.

If one would like to contribute please contact George Sawyer at 677-2249.
