Children's Activities At Blueberry Festival
A Maypole is just one activity during the upcoming Blueberry Festival.
A Maypole is just one activity during the upcoming Blueberry Festival.

Maypole dancing will be one of the many children's activities offered at the fourth annual Blueberry Festival & Harvest Fair on Saturday, Aug. 10.

There will also be a special tent with face painting, crafts and other programs to entertain the children while parents visit the arts and crafts vendors on the lawn at Round Top Farm.

A free family oriented community event, the festival opens at 10 a.m. with music and blueberry goodies, and freshly brewed coffee, in the Darrows barn. It continues until 3 p.m., with a silent auction, handmade blueberry fabrics.

The pies and other pastry items made by members of the sponsoring Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will sell out early, but there will plenty of freshly grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, salads and soft drinks to satisfy everyone's hunger.

At least 500 heaping quarts of freshly harvested Maine blueberries will be available and can be purchased and set aside in the cool barn.

Round Top Farm on upper Main Street (Route 1B) is a community use property owned by the Damariscotta River Association, and offers plenty of free parking for all events.
