Got Tools? Let's Build A Playground
Last September, eighth graders Essie Martin and Emma Goltz shared their playground ideas. Now, it’s time to build those dreams, Aug. 21–25.
Last September, eighth graders Essie Martin and Emma Goltz shared their playground ideas. Now, it’s time to build those dreams, Aug. 21–25.

The community playground build is right around the corner. All hands on deck (and all equipment) are needed to raise this playground, Aug. 21 to 25.

All skill levels are welcome. Volunteers with construction experience are asked to contact Amy Krawic at amykrawic@gmail.com or 380-2718 to let her know what tools they are bringing to the build.

Tools can be stored in a safe location at the site or brought just during the time the owner will be at the build. Also, there is an important information meeting at Great Salt Bay Community School on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Volunteers are asked to attend this meeting to insure a safe and successful build.

A list of most of the tools needed for the build include: heavy equipment - payloader, utility auger truck, power washer, compactor; power tools - table saw, 12-inch compound miter saw, circular saws with carbide blades, reciprocating saw with wood and metal blades, heavy duty jigsaw, chain saws, electric drills, electric impact wrench, routers, belt and rotary sanders, disc grinders; hand tools - hammers, shovels, rakes, 30-inch bolt cutters, levels 4- to 6-feet, ratchets ½-inch drive, vice grips, cat's paws, 20-foot tape measures, carpenter's squares (all kinds), wood rasps/files/planes, sockets and wrenches, sledge hammer, grease gun, caulking gun, large crescent wrench, large pipe wrench; and miscellaneous equipment: construction grade extension cords and splitters, extension ladders, saw horses, clamps.
