"The Butler" concludes its run Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. "Blue Jasmine" begins Friday and award-winning film festival movies are coming soon on Wednesdays and Thursdays to The Harbor Theatre.
"The Butler," tells the true story of Eugene Allen, a White House butler who served eight American presidents over three decades (1952- to '86). The film traces the dramatic changes that swept American society during this time, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this man's life and family.
Forest Whitaker stars with an all-star cast including Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, James Marsden as John F. Kennedy, Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson, many more.
Also playing, "It Takes Money," a humorous, two-minute, locally-made music video shot in the Boothbay Region, and a campy 1938 newsreel.
Starting Friday, a New York housewife struggles through a life crisis in Woody Allen's highly acclaimed comedy, "Blue Jasmine." After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal (Alec Baldwin), elegant New York socialite Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) moves into her sister Ginger's (Sally Hawkins) modest apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again.
"Blue Jasmine" plays Friday to Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m.
