Chef Teaches Cooking To Families On A Budget
Chef Rosemarie Perry
Chef Rosemarie Perry

Seasoned Chef Rosemarie Perry helps people learn how shop, prepare, and cook healthy meals, and she is coming to Newcastle this month.

A resident of Harpswell, Chef Ro, as she is known in the kitchen, is a high honors graduate of Southern Maine Community College.

In addition to her customized classes, Rosemarie volunteers alongside local SNAP-Ed nutrition educators to bring the nationally acclaimed Cooking Matters class to regular folks.

A free six-week course, Cooking Matters empowers families with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to prepare healthy and affordable meals.

Students learn through conversation and hands-on experience, sharing the meal they prepared during each class. The course includes an enlightening grocery store tour at Hannaford. Students take away free groceries to make each meal again at home.

Rosemarie will partner with Healthy Lincoln County SNAP-Ed nutrition educator, Lara Cogar, to bring Cooking Matters to the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle beginning Sept. 10 at noon.

To sign up or bring a cooking class or demonstration to one's area, contact Healthy Lincoln County at 563-1330, or email Cogar at nutrition@healthylincolncounty.org.
