The ending of summer means to the congregation of the Bremen Union Church that it is time for their annual Chili Chowder Fest. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.

In keeping with this season's fundraising theme of "Lobster Boats," the public is invited to attend by the captain of this event, Jane Peabody, and "stern persons" Penny and Ernie Card, all of Bremen.

Many cooks are preparing large pots of zesty chili to be served with sour cream and/or cheese topping, as well as fish chowder, corn chowder, and one that will please the vegetarians As in the past, there will be a good supply of breads, a wide variety of desserts and choice of beverage.

Many folks often come ready to eat right at 5 p.m.; but for this event some may plan to come later in order to stay for a 7 p.m. presentation and informal talk given by Laurie Chandler of Damariscotta, who will share the experience of her recent trip to Honduras and meeting her sponsored "son."

The church is located on Route 32 at 533 Waldoboro Rd., in Bremen, and has handicapped parking /entrance on the north side, with adequate off street parking. Proceeds from this event and the other fundraisers help support the mission and ministry of this church.
