Happenings
We get ready to launch our fall opera season this week with an amazing concert by diva Anna Netrebko. In a week we also launch our new season live from the National Theatre in London, this time, it's "Othello."

This week we also have two special films, "The Hunt," featuring Mads Mikkelsen (NBC's "Hannibal," "A Royal Affair," "Casino Royale") who won the Best Actor Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival for his penetrating portrayal of Lucas, a former school teacher who has been forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce and the loss of his job.

Just as things are starting to go his way, his life is shattered when an untruthful remark throws his small community into a collective state of hysteria. As the lie spreads, Lucas is forced to fight a lonely fight for his life and dignity; secondly, Blackfish made news as Seaworld responded to accusations regarding the theme parks treatment of one of the world's largest creatures. Lots happening this week at Lincoln Theater. Come visit.

'Still Mine' (PG-13)
In his first lead role after decades of playing supporting characters, James Cromwell gives a tour de force performance in "Still Mine," an exquisitely crafted and deeply affecting love story about a couple in their twilight years.

Based on true events and laced with wry humor, "Still Mine" tells the heartfelt tale of Craig Morrison (Academy Award nominee Cromwell), who comes up against the system when he sets out to build a more suitable house for his ailing wife Irene (Academy Award nominee Geneviève Bujold).

Although Morrison uses the same methods his father, an accomplished shipbuilder, taught him, times have changed. He quickly gets blindsided by local building codes and bureaucratic officials.

As Irene becomes increasingly ill - and amidst a series of stop-work orders - Craig races to finish the house. Hauled into court and facing jail, Craig takes a final stance against all odds in a truly inspirational story. Closes Thursday, Sept. 19 with showings at 2 and 7 p.m.

'The Hunt' (no rating, in Danish)
This nightmarish story of an innocent teacher (Mads Mikkelsen) who becomes the victim of a smalltown witch hunt following charges of child abuse is the strongest film by the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg since "The Celebration." Plays three shows only, Friday, Sept. 20 at 2 and 7 p.m., as well as Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.

Live from Red Square: Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky
Anna Netrebko is one of the world's most highly regarded opera singers. Acclaimed baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky appears regularly on the world's greatest stages. Appearing for the first time together in Red Square, Netrebko and Hvorostovsky performed for one night only (June 19) in front of an audience of 7500 people.

The exciting program includes popular arias and duets from some of the world's best-loved operas, including Tosca, Eugene Onegin, and Il Trovatore. Matinee screening only on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.

'Blackfish' (PG-13)
Through the rueful voices of former trainers, Gabriela Cowperthwaite's delicately lacerating documentary uses the tragic tale of a single whale and his human victims as the backbone of a hypercritical investigation into the marine-park giant, SeaWorld Entertainment. Four screenings only, Sunday Sept. 22 at 2 and 7 p.m. as well as Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2 and 7 p.m.

What is next
Shakespeare's "Othello" will screen live from the National Theater in London on Thursday, Sept. 26 and will be followed by Woody Allen's latest film, "Blue Jasmine," on Friday, Sept. 27. The complete Live from the Met in HD season kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 5 with Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. Season tickets and individual opera tickets are now on sale.
