“Frozen,” PG, plays Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27, 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., and on Dec. 31, and Jan. 1 at 7 p.m. at The Harbor Theatre.

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" will play Wednesday, Christmas night, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. Then Walt Disney's "Frozen" will open, including special New Year's Eve and New Year's Day screenings at 7 p.m.

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" (PG-13) is Peter Jackson's new epic fantasy adventure, the second installment of a three-part film series based on J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel "The Hobbit."

The new film includes many familiar and some new faces including Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, and Orlando Bloom.

The story continues where events left off in Part One, "An Unexpected Journey" (2012). The hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) travels with the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and a company of thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) into the Kingdom of Erebor, taking them through Mirkwood, Esgaroth, and Dale to combat the dragon Smaug (Benandedict Cumberbatch).

"Frozen," (PG) featuring the voice talents of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, is the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna's sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell.

Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

"Frozen," PG, has received rave reviews and plays Friday to Sunday, Dec. 27 and 28 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 29 at 3 p.m., and also plays New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, and New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2014 at 7 p.m.
