In spite of the frigid temperatures, the free community meals at the Bremen Union Church, Simply Suppers, have attracted many Bremen area people who are eager for good conversation combined with a hot and tasty meal.

The next supper is Tuesday, Feb. 25, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Natalie and Ron Gilzean, of New Harbor, are planning to serve a winter favorite, shepherd's pie, with assorted side dishes and fruit crisps for dessert. There is usually a meatless alternative which pleases the vegetarians.

If folks arrive early, they will see the drivers and their "jumpers" leaving with boxed meals to be delivered to maybe a dozen or more who are home bound. Shortly after, the "board is spread" for the guests.

These meals are sponsored twice monthly until the end of April by the church Missions and Benevolence committee.

They are prepared and served by volunteers from the congregation. The menus are kid friendly, so bring the family. Donations are never expected, but any money found in the mission jug on the table will be used to further the mission work of the Bremen Union Church.
