Kieve climbing wall will be at this year’s Healthy Kids Day at the CLC YMCA.

Healthy Kids Day will be held at the CLC YMCA on Route 1B in Damariscotta, on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., for families and kids of all ages. The event is free and fun for all. This event is a great kickoff to the summer season and the Y will have all of their summer camp information available.

Healthy Kids Day activities will include outside climbing on Kieve's rock climbing wall, hop on board Boothbay Harbor's Coast Guard Boat, check out the CLC ambulance, a CLC police car, plant a plant with Home Depot, find a friend with the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, learn about FARMS, see what the Boy Scouts are doing, learn about Pumpkinfest, watch CLC Y Team gymnastics, or a lesson on the Y's indoor tennis courts and much more.

Celebrated at nearly 1,600 Ys across the country, the national YMCA's Healthy Kids Day initiative aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long - a critical out-of-school time for kids' health.

Research shows that without access to out-of-school physical and learning activities, kids fall behind academically.

Kids also gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. The April 26 event will feature games, physical activities, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and more to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home.
