Maine Humorist Tim Sample Returns to the Opera House Stage
“Maine’s humorist laureate,
“Maine’s humorist laureate," Tim Sample.

From the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to the Maine State Legislature, and from countless grange halls to unforgettable bean suppers, Maine humorist Tim Sample has made a career of introducing the nation and the world to the lifestyles and stories of Maine. On Thursday, June 26, in celebration of Windjammer Week, Boothbay Harbor's historic Opera House welcomes back "Maine's humorist laureate."

Sample is widely acknowledged at Maine's premier native humorist and he is famous for his over-the-top Maine accent on stage. His books, albums and videos have sold more than a million copies nationwide, helping to create a new generation of Maine humor fans. For more than a decade he wrote and presented the popular Postcards from Maine segment on the Emmy award winning CBS Sunday Morning.

Born in Fort Fairfield, and raised in Boothbay Harbor, Sample brings a hometown slant to his stories during his annual Opera House performance. The audience is filled with neighbors and friends, and sometimes even a few of the human inspirations for his stories. This night is a homecoming for all, even the first time visitor.

Tickets for the performance are available through the Opera House box office, open Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 86 Townsend Avenue, or by calling 633-5159. Tickets are also available online at http://www.boothbayoperahouse.com. Doors for seating open at 7 p.m. Tim Sample goes on stage at 7:30.
