Happenings
There are so many great folks that work in the hospitality business here in Damariscotta - making life fun for residents and tourists alike. What they often don't get a chance to do is enjoy things like seeing the Wimbledon finals this weekend or enjoying a good movie.

This week we're pleased to fix that with "Chef," a wonderful film about restaurants, food, and passion. Along with our regular screenings, we'll be holding a late night 11 p.m. showing on Tuesday, July 8 so our hardworking friends can come and enjoy. Of course, everyone is invited. Please join us for some late night air-conditioned frolicking.

'Belle' (PG, one hour 44 minutes)
Inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed-race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay (Matthew Goode). Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing.

After meeting an idealistic young vicar's son bent on changing society, he and Belle help shape Lord Mansfield's role as lord chief justice to end slavery in England. Final screenings Wednesday, July 2 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, July 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

'Chef' (R, one hour 55 minutes)
When chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what's next.

Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo), and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Casper goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen - and zest for life and love.

Plays at 7 p.m., Friday to Sunday, July 4 to 6; 7 p.m. and a special night-owl screening at 11 p.m., Tuesday, July 8; 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 9; and 2 p.m., Thursday, July 10.

Live from Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships are one of the four grand slam tennis tournaments (majors), the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the U.S. Open.

Wimbledon is the only Major still played on grass, the game's original surface, which gave the game its original name of "lawn tennis."

The theater will screen the women's finals at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 5, and the men's finals at 9 a.m., Sunday, July 6. This is a free event made possible through the generosity of the Genada Foundation.

'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' (two hours 40 minutes)
Christopher, 15, has an extraordinary brain - exceptional at math while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion of killing Mrs. Shears' dog Wellington, he records each fact about the event in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of the murder.

His detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world. This National Theatre Live encore screening plays at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10.

Coming soon
"The Immigrant" opens July 11, The FIFA World Cup Finals live on July 13, the Royal Shakespeare Company's "Henry IV Part II," "Talking Art in Maine: Intimate Conversations" with special guest Lois Dodd July 18.

Coming in August - now for something completely different, the Monty Python reunion!
