Grammy-winning Singer at Opera House

Baked Bean Fundraiser for St. Philip's Steeple Fund
St. Philip's Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, desperately needs to fund work on the uppermost section of its moldering steeple before the snow flies. To that end, the church is holding another bean/casserole supper fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Damariscotta Genealogy Workshop
Missionaries with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will lead a genealogy workshop at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center in Damariscotta at 2 p.m. Sept. 24.
Pemaquid Oyster Festival Set For Sept. 28
The Pemaquid Oyster Festival, Damariscotta's annual celebration of the working waterfront, marine conservation, and the Pemaquid oyster, is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28 from noon to dusk. The popular event is an important fundraiser for the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund.
Blood Drive in Newcastle
The American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive at The Second Congregational Church in Newcastle from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18. To schedule an appointment, call 800-733-2767. The Red Cross also welcomes walk-ins. Anyone 17 and up can donate.

St. Philip's Baked Bean Supper
St. Philip's Church next baked bean/casserole supper, a fundraiser to benefit the church's steeple fund, will be held at the church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, Saturday, Sept. 20, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Benefit for Local Contractor
A potluck dinner and silent auction to benefit local contractor Randy Orff will take place at Damariscotta Lake Farm Restaurant in Jefferson from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21.
Beatles Anthologist to Speak in Damariscotta
"The Beatles Are Here!" anthologist and contributor Penelope Rowlands will give a talk and sign books at the Maine Coast Book Shop in Damariscotta from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6.
