Lincoln Academy Appoints Communications and Community Engagement Manager

Lincoln Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Jenny Mayher as its communications and community engagement manager. Mayher, who most recently served as a children's librarian at Skidompha Library, will begin at Lincoln in August.

In her role, a new one for Lincoln, Mayher will develop a comprehensive communications plan aimed at strengthening awareness about the Academy and helping to deepen Lincoln's connection with its broad range of constituents, including parents, alumni, and the business and residents who call the Midcoast home.

Head of School David Sturdevant said, "It is an exciting yet critical time here at Lincoln. We have much to be proud of-including our students, alumni, programs, and talented faculty. At the same time, we have ambitious dreams and goals as we look to serve the diverse needs of our students of this region and beyond.

"We need the support from the community, and I think as people learn more about Lincoln, they will respond enthusiastically. This position will allow us to enhance our relationships with those individuals and organizations that make this such a special place to live, learn and work."

In addition to her role at Skidompha, Mayher, a mother of two, including a Lincoln Academy sophomore, has been actively involved in Midcoast community affairs, including running library youth programs, leading the fundraising effort for the Great Salt Bay Community Playground, and serving as the Great Salt Bay Community School PTO co-president. She also manages a website, http://www.jennysbookreview.com, where she shares advice on age-appropriate books.

Associate Head of School for Advancement Matt Goetting said, "The feedback from our constituents indicates a desire for a closer connection to the school and Jenny will be a big help as we move forward with those efforts. She is thoughtful, collaborative, passionate about and committed to Lincoln's mission, and will be a great advocate for all of our students and staff.

"She not only understands that Lincoln Academy is an asset to the region but also that the region - and its residents - are an asset to Lincoln Academy. And she knows that a strong and vibrant Lincoln Academy goes hand-in-hand with a strong and vibrant Midcoast region."

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me," said Mayher. "As a Lincoln Academy parent, I have appreciated the exciting and innovative education happening every day on Academy Hill. This position will provide a platform for me to celebrate the successes and address the challenges and opportunities of our school. I look forward to getting to know the members of the LA family and working with them to move the school forward."

Mayher earned degrees from Harvard College and Teachers College, the graduate school of education at Columbia University.
