Sally Maria Russell
Dec. 7, 1947 - May 17, 2013

Sally Maria Russell, 65, of Coopers Mills, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on May 17 at her home surrounded by her family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Gardiner on Dec. 7, 1947 the daughter of Donald and Frances Gould. She attended Coopers Mills Grammar School and graduated from Whitefield Elementary School and Wiscasset High School class of 1965.

Sally worked many years for the State of Maine, Taxation Division. Her most recent employment was intake coordinator for Mid-Coast Mental Health. Over the years she had many other part time jobs.

She enjoyed baking like her grandmother Inez Ruth Brann and shared her goodies with all her family and friends. She loved to garden and was proud of the flowers and shrubs that she planted around her home. She really enjoyed the trips that she was able to take with her son Daryl and his family. She especially enjoyed her trips to Mauritius where she spent time with her daughter-in-law's family and friends.

She was predeceased by her oldest son, Mark Alan; youngest son, Donald Virgil; and sister, Greta Ann.

She is survived by her middle son, Daryl Eric and wife Marie-Hélène Russell of Newport, N.C.; parents, Donald and Francis Gould of Whitefield; brother, Dennis and wife Debbie Gould of Whitefield; granddaughters, Dwan Nicole Russell of Bath, and the light of her life Kayleen Alexia Océanne Russell of Newport, N.C.; nephews, Lane Gould of Augusta, and Lucas Gould of Whitefield; soul-mate, Davis Crowell of Washington; devoted companion, Sophie; and many uncles, aunts and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Health Reach Hospice at Office of Philanthropy, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828 or The American Cancer Society.

Visitation 6-8 p.m., Fri., May 24 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Committal services 11 a.m., Sat., May 25 at Rest Heaven on Rt. 32 in Windsor with a celebration of life at the Coopers Mills Lions Club following the committal.
