Harry Hendrixson
Oct. 19, 1938 - July 9, 2013

Harry Hendrixson, of Waldoboro, passed away early on the morning of July 9 in the home he shared with his wife, Eleanor.

Harry was born on Oct. 19, 1938, in Abington, Penn. and spent his growing years in Warminster, Penn., graduating from William Tennant High School in 1957. After graduation he worked for several years at Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown, Penn. and was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He had learned the upholstery trade from his father and operated a business in Furlong, Penn., until moving to Maine in 1975 with Eleanor and his two young daughters. From that time on, he considered Maine his true home and never tired of the beauty and the people of the Mid-coast area.

Harry was a meticulous craftsman in everything he undertook. Not only was he a master upholsterer but he excelled in home restoration. His crowning achievement was building a home for his family on seven acres on Academy Hill in Newcastle. He loved being out-of-doors on the property in all kinds of weather until his health made it difficult to do so.

Although Harry and family lived in the Damariscotta-Newcastle area for over 30 years, most recently, he and Eleanor lived in Waldoboro next door to their daughter Susan and family. As his health declined, he still enjoyed the garden and visits from the family and was content to be at home.

Harry leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Eleanor; daughters, Susan Johnson and Anne Hendrixson; sons-in-law, Eric Johnson and Robert Penn; grandson, David Johnson; and brother, Paul Hendrixson and family.

A reception commemorating Harry's life will be held for family and friends in August.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Maine Parkinson Society, 359 Perry Rd., Bangor, ME 04401 or online at
