Devan James Basinet
July 7, 1990 - Sept. 25, 2013

Devan James Basinet, 23, of Jefferson, passed away on Sept. 25 as a result of an automobile accident.

Devan was born on July 7, 1990, to Geoffrey and Lisa (Duncan) Basinet of Somerville.

After graduating from Erskine Academy, Devan worked for Public Partnerships for several years. Most recently he was employed with a landscaping company.

Having a larger than life personality, a quick smile and kind heart, Devan had many friends who thought of him as a brother. He was always willing to listen and help out someone in need any way he could. Those who met Devan instantly were drawn to him; he had such an amazing way of always turning the conversation to you and asking questions about your life all the while listening and making you feel as though you were the most important person in his life.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family but nothing gave him more joy than his 2-year-old son, Ayden. During the winter months, Devan would get Ayden bundled up and take him for a ride around the yard in his sled or on his snowmobile. Devan talked often about how happy he was that his son could enjoy camping at Lake Pemaquid as he had done with his family and friends. Devan was always willing to simply sit on the floor and play with his son. It was also their father and son ritual to have an outing on Saturday mornings when they would go to McDonalds for breakfast and then go to the playground or to visit some of his favorite fishing spots.

Devan was predeceased by his grandmother, Beverly Burnett; grandfather, Elmer Health; and uncles, Harold Heath and Danny, Dale and Darren Duncan.

He is survived by his parents, Geoffrey and Lisa Basinet; son, Ayden James Basinet; brother, Reggie Brann; grandparents, Rosalie Basinet, Daniel Duncan and wife Janice, David Burnett; uncle, Greg Basinet and Florence Mcewen; aunts, Dawn Fecteau and husband Marc, Michelle Prock and husband Eric, Debbie Bailey and husband Scott, and Cindy Heath; as well as many cousins including those with whom he had a special bond: Kianna Fecteau, Tyler and Codey Prock and Matthew Basinet; and Jacky Bouchard, the mother of his son and a very special part of his life.

Visitation Oct. 5 at Plummer Funeral Home in Windsor, where a memorial service immediately followed.

A fund has been set up for Devan's son, Ayden. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camden National Bank, c/o Crystal Spear, in memory of Devan Basinet, 1768 Atlantic Hwy., Waldoboro, ME 04572.
