Roxanne Gerard Lincoln, 56, of Whitefield, passed away peacefully Oct. 28, surrounded by her loved ones after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer and cirrhosis of the liver.
Roxanne was born on July 30, 1957 in Augusta to Harold Sr. and Mary (Holland) Gerard. In 1973, Roxanne met the love of her life, Leroy C. Lincoln Sr. After a whirlwind romance, they were married three months later on April 20, 1974.
After many years in the customer service industry and years as a mill worker, Roxanne as a young mother and wife made the decision to go back to school. Through much hard work and determination, she completed her GED and was able to better herself and her young family. At that time, she also held positions as a first class pipe fitter, bank courier, a finish carpenter, waitress, and a laundry mat attendant. The last position she held with great enjoyment was as an associate at IGA.
Roxanne was a creative woman. She found outlets through knitting, sewing, crocheting and paper cutting. Roxanne enjoyed painting, especially seascapes.
She is survived by her husband, sons, Leroy Lincoln Jr. and wife Dawn of Lincolnville, and Mark Lincoln and wife Kimberly of Wiscasset; grandchildren, Cassandra Lincoln, Kaitlin, and Jameson Lincoln; brothers, Harold Gerard Jr. and wife Lynn of Gardiner, and Gary Gerard and Gayle Hemphill of Augusta; sisters, Linda Bowden and husband Bob of Augusta, Wanda Poulin and husband Don of Randolph, and Shirley Richardson and husband John of Jay; sister-in-law, Joan Gerard of Waterville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A potluck gathering will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Nov. 2 at the Alna Church.
Donations may be made to the Alfond Cancer Center.
