James E. "Jim" Pitcher
June 5, 1953 - Nov. 1, 2013

James E. "Jim" Pitcher, 60, of Boothbay and Marathon, Fla., having bravely fought leukemia, died Nov. 1 at home with his family. The memory of his kindness and love of life and people cannot be dimmed by any disease.

Jim was born in Gardiner June 5, 1953. His parents were the late James R. Pitcher and Myrle Dorr.

He graduated in 1971 from Hall-Dale High School and then attended Plus-Gray's School of Business.

A great love story began when he met his future wife Kathy and they were married at the "Old South Congregational Church" two days after his graduation on June 19, 1971.

Jim took a summer job at Floormaster, Inc., where he began a career which led to owning Jim's Carpet Center in Boothbay for 25 years. After selling the store, they moved to Marathon, Fla. where he worked for D'Asign Source, a building company, for 10 years.

People who met him would say he was a wonderful person and kind soul who would always offer to help anyone in need. He touched so many lives on his short journey with us.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy; daughters, Kelly and Jamie; grandchildren, Austin and Kayla; mother, Myrle; sisters, Karen of Florida, Victoria of Maryland, Viola, and Joan of Wisconsin; and brothers, George of Michigan and Michael of Ohio.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to tell a few stories and to celebrate his life from 2-5 p.m., Sat., Jan. 18, 2014, at 121 Commercial St., Apt #1, Augusta. Call (305) 360-8802 for more information.
