Two Listed in Critical Condition From Jefferson Accident
By Dominik Lobkowicz

Two people are critical condition from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident in Jefferson March 12 that the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office suspects involved alcohol, according to Lt. Rand Maker.

A 1997 Ford Ranger pickup was being driven southbound on Goose Hill Road by Matthew Springer, 23, of Waldoboro, when Springer failed to negotiate a corner and struck a utility pole, Maker said.

There were four passengers in addition to Springer, with two riding in the bed of the truck and it appears no one was wearing seat belts, Maker said.

Travis Condon, 22, and Brandon Maddocks, 18, both of Washington, were riding in the bed of the pickup, and Felichia Glidden, 19, of Washington, and Christopher Benner, 20, of Damariscotta were in the cab, Maker said.

Condon was thrown from the truck and sustained serious back injuries, but it wasn't immediately known if anyone else was thrown from the vehicle, Maker said. Glidden sustained serious head injuries from the crash, he said.

Both Condon and Glidden are listed in critical condition, according to Maine Medical Center spokesperson Mary Saucier.

Springer was treated for injuries at Miles Memorial Hospital and released, Maker said.

Benner and Maddocks initially fled the scene of the accident, and the LCSO brought in a K-9 unit to help locate them, according to Maker.

No one has been charged with anything yet as a result of the investigation, Maker said. "Ultimately, we'll complete our investigation and the district attorney's office will determine what charges are appropriate," he said.
